Gaian Group Leadership Development: WHAT'S IN THE NAME

The Gaian Group is a metaphor derived from Greek mythology (with a dash of poetic license). According to the myth, the creation of the world occured with the marriage of Gaia, the goddess of earth (form and substance) and Chaos, the god of the void.

Gaia brought form to Chaos, which resulted in the creation of the world. The metaphor extends to the approach of the Gaian Group. Organizations or groups need both form, substance, and chaos. Here, chaos refers to chaos theory, more specifically, the systems view of organisms and the way that they grow and adapt. In organization change, chaos represents the way that change occurs organically. The methodologies of the Gaian Group are a deliberate, research-based blending of linear processes that support the rapid and intentional organization change.
